Why put up with the over-crowded Côte d'Azur or Dordogne region when you can spend your holidays in......

A Quiet Vacation Hideaway in the French Heartland

Looking for your own piece of paradise for a tranquil "get away from it  all" holiday? Peace and quiet, utter privacy, fresh air, but plenty to see and do nearby if and when the mood strikes you? Welcome to Maison Le Jubeau!

This rustic yet tastefully decorated self-catering holiday home with heated pool is situated in the idyllic rural farmlands in the heart of central France , approximately 2 ½ - 3 hours south of Paris . It takes its name from the tiny country hamlet, Le Jubeau, where it is situated. The hamlet is a short drive from the village of Préveranges in the southern tip of the department of Cher (18) just near the meeting of the borders of Indre (36), Creuse (23) and Allier (03).

To see where we are, (just a few kilometers, in fact, from the virtual epicenter of France), view our pop-up Quick Locator Pop-up window.

Inside accommodations

The house accommodates up to 11 people* with 3 double bedrooms  (2 with in-suite baths), 1 twin bedroomPop-up window with double and single beds (sleeps 3), and 1 twin roomPop-up window with two single beds (ideal for kids). There are a total of 3 full baths and one separate WC. A foldaway bed and baby's cot are also available, as is an antique cradle for small infants up to 6-8 months. Expecting some extra guests during your stay? There's a sofabed in the solarium that can sleep two more!

* In fact, 13 people in a pinch, if there are two in your party who don't mind sleeping on the comfortable sofa-bed in the solarium, and 14 people if anyone is willing to sleep on a roll-away cot. The solarium has been outfitted with curtains so it is quite private and occupants are not awoken by the dawn's early rays...

Ground floor

First floor (2nd floor for you Americans!)

The upstairs features beautiful new hardwood flooring throughout. There are two large, comfortable double bedrooms, one with in-suite bath, one twin bedroom (that actually sleeps three as it has both a double and a single bed), and one twin bedroom with two single beds. This year you'll also find a large newly renovated bathroom with toilet, a two-person tub and spacious shower, double sinks and elegant teak flooring. All bedrooms have ample closet and drawer space.

Surroundings

The house is situated in a tiny hamlet with only 5 other houses. The house Pop-up window, its large attached barn Pop-up window, and the separate antique outdoor bread oven Pop-up window create a barrier between the tiny lane and the rest of the property.

When you drive in through the private gate, you'll find yourself in a lovely paved courtyard Pop-up window between the large attached barn and a small mill house with an impressive 19th century millstone and press for making walnut oil. The entrance to the house from the courtyard is up several steps through a charming archway that gives onto the terrace.

View over the pool deck In summer, life happens here, where the glazed conservatory/solarium Pop-up window opens onto the large terrace and pool deck Pop-up window. The 9 x 4.5 m pool is heated with an electric heat pump, providing a constant warm water temperature regardless of the weather, and is regularly maintained. The pool area Pop-up windowis nicely tiled and, in conformity with French safety law, is completely walled off to prevent small children from gaining access unsupervised. Pool and patio furniture is provided, including a spacious table for eating outdoors with an enormous parasol providing plenty of shade. There's also a new outdoor table tennis set. And did we mention the roomy barbecue grill?

The pool and terrace overlook the large back garden Pop-up window, which slopes away toward the neighboring meadowlands and boasts mature nut and fruit trees. There are no neighboring houses adjoining the property, as it is bordered only by pastures and a working farm. Children love having so much space to roam around in, and parents love the fact that it's utterly safe for them to do so!

The surrounding area is green and leafy, with woodland trails and country lanes Pop-up window. There's hardly any traffic through the hamlet, and the house insulates you from such as there is. You feel entirely secluded, but you are not totally isolated. Peace and quiet and fresh air abound, making Le Jubeau a perfect spot to escape from the noise, hustle, and bustle of city life.

To get a better feel for the house and its setting, check out our interior Info on different page and exterior Info on different page photos in the Photo Gallery Info on different page.
